Privacy policy
What we collect
- Enquiries: your name, email, phone, the dates and location you mention, and your message.
- Listing requests: your name, contact details, business name and NZBN or ABN if you list In Trade, and details about your equipment.
- Payments: handled by Wix checkout. We see what you bought and your contact details, not your full card details.
- Technical: the site stores a small session token in your browser so it can load listings and send forms.
How we use it
- To pass your enquiry to the owner of the listing you asked about, so they can reply.
- To build and publish listings, take listing fees, and contact you about your listing.
- To keep the site safe, including spotting scams and misuse.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Where it's stored
The site runs on Wix, which stores data on servers that may be outside New Zealand and Australia. Wix acts as our service provider.
When you list gear, your full name stays private. Hirers only see the name you choose to show, such as your first name, a nickname or initials.
Cookies and storage
The site runs on Wix, which sets a few cookies so pages load securely and so we can see basic visitor numbers. It also keeps small notes in your browser: your language choice, whether you're logged in as an owner, and which listings you've viewed today, so a listing's view count isn't counted twice. We don't use advertising cookies or sell your information.
If you tap Use my location to see gear near you, your browser asks first. Your location only picks the nearest region on your device. It isn't sent to us or stored with us.
Your rights
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us. We follow the Privacy Act 2020 in New Zealand and the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 in Australia. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (NZ) or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
